Dear Readers,
This is the commencement of July. We are ready with an issue of The Business Age. These writings are expected to enrich our lives.
At this time, we are all far from being happy right now. The world is undergoing one of the most severe pandemics in human history. There are doctors and scientists who are better speakers on the biological side of this pandemic. So, I reserve myself from doing that. I would rather speak from the business angle.
I cannot remember anything or any incident that has changed our lives so much in the last twenty years or so, as has this lockdown. The impact of it on businesses, particularly on small and medium businesses has been severe. The businesses which have been affected badly cannot be expected to run the moment this lockdown gets over. These businesses will take a long time to be back on track, if at all that is possible. Probably, ours is going to be that generation who would experience the fall and closure of many giants in the world of commerce. Many dark pages of history will be written now and we have to prepare ourselves for that.
But there is a silver lining behind the clouds. In this phase when giants close down as they cannot recover from the shock, there will be shortage of jobs in the recruitment market. It is time when we start developing entrepreneurs. The first thing that we should do from our side is that recognize the contributions of the entrepreneurs. Make their lives easier through easy availability of funds and smooth logistics. The society needs to develop new perspectives. Instead of working for a blue chip global organization, the life of an entrepreneur in a small business should be made to look fashionable. We have to produce entrepreneurs who are willing to take risks, work hard, be self-sufficient and enjoy the rewards. Let us remember that Rome was not built in a day. So this is that time of our life when we need to develop entrepreneurs. We have to stand beside them during this gestation period. And, if we are patient now, we are calm and collective, we are ready to perspire and persevere, the rewards will start flowing again.
If winter comes, spring cannot be far behind! We have to keep ourselves inspired and motivated. We should do our daily tasks with a lot of hope and wait for the good times to be back again.
On that note, I wish you many enjoyable times as you go through this issue of The Business Age.
Best regards,
Chief Editor,
